Manila Food Shoppe

If you are a Cebu resident or a tourist planning to go to Cebu soon, check out this restaurant.

The Manila Restaurant now known as Manila Foodshoppe, used to be one of the most famous restaurants in Cebu. People go there a lot because they offer great tasting food at an affordable price. Their oldest branch is found in Manalili Street in Cebu. They also have branches in Park Mall and across the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital. They still continue to serve great food though they are not that popular anymore because of the many competitive restaurants that opened in Cebu. Their menu is a mixture of both Chinese and Filipino cuisine.

Unlike other restaurants, Manila Foodshoppe seems to keep its traditional Chinese ambiance. They are known for their "pancit" which is cooked in various ways. One of their best dishes is their pancit guisado topped with pork and shrimps. Another famous cuisine that the Manila Foodshoppe offers is the Maki. It is one of the dishes that most customers never fail to include in their order list. The Manila Foodshoppe may not be that famous anymore but it was once the most known restaurants and amongst the oldest in Cebu. It continues to serve great quality food until this day.

All About Gold

The bulk of the world’s supply of gold is from South Africa, and that of America is from South Dakota and Nevada. Gold is a soft, yellow metal with an intrinsic characteristic of being corrosion-resistant and highly malleable. The word is derived from the Anglo-Saxons “geolo” meaning yellow. The paucity in the supply of this metal stabilizes its price. The use of gold in making gold coins dates back since the ancient years of coinage. To date, the most expensive gold coin ever sold in the history of America is the $20 1933 double eagle gold coin and this amounted to almost $2.7M. A fact that is indeed very interesting. bbelly

1. Prepare the Ingredients:
  2 pcs. Bangus bellies
  2 tbsps. garlic (chopped)
2 pcs. calamansi or lime will do
  1 tbsp. Worcesterchire sauce
  3 tbsps. olive oil
cooking oil
salt and pepper to taste
2. Combine calamansi/lime, Worcesterchire sauce, salt and pepper in a bowl
3. Use this mixture to marinate the bangus bellies. Thirty minutes would do but if you really want the taste to seep in, its best to do it overnight
4. Heat the olive oil and sauté garlic until it turns to brown. Set aside
5. Heat cooking oil and fry the marinated bangus belly
6. Drizzle garlic chips in olive oil and garnish with chopped olives

All About “Bangus”

The Philippines prides of its national fish which is known as the Bangus or Milkfish. The Bangus has a different taste compared to other fishes when cooked. It, however has so many bones but it only takes a few minutes to debone it. You need to be careful when eating Bangus because though it might be deboned there might still be some bones left. I remember when I ate a deboned Bangus and almost swallowed a bone, thankfully most of their bones are long and soft so you can easily feel if you have one in your mouth. The deboned Bangus is a popular Filipino food and Filipinos have different ways in cooking it.
