Birthday Plans for Him

The husband’s birthday is still four months away but as early as now, I’m already thinking of ways to celebrate as this year should be extra special.  He’s turning 30 and it’s just fitting to celebrate 3 decades of his existence extraordinarily.  I haven’t consulted him if he has his own plans but knowing his simplicity and as he’s easy to please, I already know the answer.  So I guess, I’ll just cook a surprise party for him more likely here at home and invite his friends over.  I’ll also check online for great husband gifts as he loves receiving tokens from me.  I found nice hoodies in one of my favorite gift shop website that I’m sure the husband would love to have them.

Devastating

The news about the bus blast yesterday is so devastating.  I really can’t believe how some people can be so ruthless, claiming innocent lives of people just to materialize their selfish motives.  My heart goes to the 5 passengers who perished along with more than a dozen sustaining injuries.  According to the news, most of the survivors have sustained severe damages on their legs.  I just hope that they have medical insurances or they use the medical insurance program offered by SSS.  In the US, employees needing disability insurance can seek the help of Allsup in having their Medicare part D plan applications approved.  I can’t believe that the news these days have been all about terrorist explosions (Russia, Philippines and Thailand).  What’s happening to the world?

Enroll in a Beauty School

Isn’t it fascinating that specialized education of popular interests in various industries have now sprouted and are now made more accessible through its growing and continuously expanding facilities?  If you are into cooking, go and enroll yourself in a Culinary School.  If you are into cosmetology or those stuff that has got to do with beauty, then go to a cosmetology school.  In the US, there’s one particular chain of beauty school that is considered as the fastest growing beauty school because of its continuous expansion.  Over the years, the Regency Beauty Institute now has 80 campuses across 19 states offering exceptional curriculum and top notch facilities that help them produce quality and highly skilled graduates.  They are sought after to work in tops salons, cruise ships and runways.

Garlic Potatoes

DSC_7743

I was nursing a headache on New Year’s Eve but luckily, I still managed to cook our NYE dinner for the four of us (grandma was with us).  The husband prepared the Christmas ham he bought at the grocery and he tossed a salad while I cooked my infamous Carbonara, fried cheese sticks and experimented a new dish, the recipe of which was shared by my elder sister.  It’s the Garlic Potatoes.  A very simple and easy recipe actually.  I made use of the baby potatoes we bought in heaps in Baguio.  I just phoned my sister and luckily, I have on hand the ingredients required.  I just boiled the potatoes, set them aside, melted butter, fried loads and loads of garlic, sprinkled salt and pepper then add the boiled potatoes.  For the dressing, I just prepared mayo, added a few cloves of garlic, vinegar, sugar and salt.  It was yummo!  I actually ran out of words to describe how delicious and tasty it was.  Save for the loads of butter used, it’s a healthy meal actually and will make you forget to research about diet pill that works.  Seeing the picture now makes me crave again for this dish.  We still have baby potatoes in the cupboard, let’s see if I find the mood later to whip this up again.

Thanksgiving Meal

DSC_7400 Despite the unfavorable happening last month, our family is filled with gratitude still for the downpour of blessings showered our way throughout 2010.  The husband’s promotion, the overwhelming load of online work I got, and the acquisition of our very first home was the significant blessings we’re most grateful of.  Because all of these and as it’s our first ever Christmas in our humble little home, we threw in a little extravagant Christmas Day lunch.  We invited both sides of our families to join and feast with us in our thanksgiving meal.  We didn’t mind about the expenses..the roasted pig from Mila’s didn’t cost us much anyway.  In fact, we still have enough to spare for a cheap car insurance.  Our mantra has always been like that.  We don’t mind spending especially if it’s meant to be shared to everyone else.  This is our simple way of saying thanks to the greatest Provider of all.
