New Clinic

A doctor acquaintance has just started her own clinic in their home a few months ago.  While she’s proud and happy of her achievement, she can’t help but lament a little on the earnings coming in yet.  Perhaps she’s just too eager to recover all the expenses (building, medical supplies and tools like stethoscope, audiometer, etc) she has incurred in setting up the clinic.  Well, just like in any business, you cannot recover your capital overnight and it takes time before the ROI (Return of Investment) is achieved.

Obviously Hungry

Dear hubby and I shared a good laugh last night that I kept giggling before I shut my eyes to sleep.  We were discussing our plans for weekend since it’s gonna be his birthday when suddenly he asked if I know where to scout the the best chirp in town.  I enumerated the restobars I saw in groupon deals sites recently that I know serve the best chips.  He was surprised at my mentioning of restaurants and bars.  Then he figured out I heard him wrong so he started laughing.  Then he further joked that I was obviously hungry again.  True..actually.  Besides, even if I heard it right, I’m not familiar with those GPS thingie so I’m clueless about those chirps he’s talking about.

Food Night Markets

After reading a review of the food night markets Banchetto and Midnight Mercato in a food blog I’m following, I’m now more than ever lured to experience overnight street food fiesta.  From isaw to shawarma to pasta, desserts to burgers and sisig, the tastiest and the most satisfying food for everyone abound in these two places.  It’s like having a food festival only it happens during midnight until early morning.  The food night markets are open to everyone (so no need to worry about not having rfid blocking wallet).  You just have to make sure that you have enough energy to brave the heavy crowd and of course, an empty stomach to enjoy everything that these food night markets offer.

Banchetto – F. Ortigas Jr. Road, formerly Emerald Avenue (12 midnight until early morning)

Midnight Mercato – Bonifacio Global City (10pm to 3 am)

Yummy Eats

My favorite local food magazine YUMMY is holding its biggest event for the year – YUMMY Eats!  It’s a gathering of food lovers and specially chosen concessionaires happening on May 21, 2011 at NBC Tent in Bonifacio Global City.  The concessionaires will showcase their tastiest delicacies so enjoy samplers of yummy appetizers, entrees and desserts (better ready those hgh pills!).  There will also be culinary cook off among different schools.  Representatives of Petron Gasul and Yummy Magazine will also conduct talks on kitchen safety and the latest in food businesses.  Admission fee is Php 150 but those bringing the May issue of Yummy Magazine can get in at a discounted fee of just Php 100.

The Royal Wedding Reception Menu

The whole world watched the Royal Wedding unfold.  Everyone patiently waited and gushed when Kate appeared in her dashing simple yet elegant white gown.  And everyone was smitten at the sight of William whispering “You are beautiful” to his bride.  Not much reception footages were shown on TV so I bet everyone’s curious about the Royal Reception menu.  Here’s what the Queen’s army of 21 chefs, led by Royal Chef Mark Flanagan, prepared for the 650 royal guests:

  • Cornish Crab Salad on Lemon Blini
  • Scottish Smoked Salmon Rose on Beetroot Blini
  • Pressed Duck Terrine with Fruit Chutney
  • Miniature Watercress and Asparagus Tart
  • Quail Eggs with Celery Salt
  • Miniature Yorkshire Pudding with Roast Fillet of Beef and Horseradish Mousse
  • Assortment of Palmiers and Cheese Straws

Overall, it was just a light fare at Queen’s lunchtime wedding reception at Buckingham Palace with 10,000 canapes flowing plus Pol Roger NV Brut Reserve champagne and sumptuous desserts like blood orange pate de fruit, raspberry financiers, dark chocolate ganache truffles, and rhubarb crème brulee tartlets for dessert to keep the guests satisfied.

I’m sure the newlyweds will still be tightly watched as they start their royal married life anew.  The whole world will anticipate the coming of the soon to be heir of the throne.  I don’t think it’s appropriate to ask “does enzyte work” on Prince William because he’s still young and absolutely won’t need those at the moment.
