Fish Tacos
As I’ve been posting in my FB shoutouts, blog and Twitter, tacos are one of my recent pregnancy cravings. Beef tacos are the usual servings in restos that I frequent so I’m really curious how does this recipe of Fish Tacos from Yummy.ph taste like. I have to try this myself one of these days.
3 tilapia fillets, halved lengthwise
salt and pepper to season
For dredging
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup vegetable oil
For the tartar sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon calamansi juice
1/2 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon sugar
3 tortilla wraps
3 lettuce leaves
2-3 tomatoes, sliced
salt and pepper to taste
1 Season fillets with salt and pepper. Set aside.
2 Beat egg in one bowl. Place flour and breadcrumbs in separate bowls. Dredge fish in flour, dip in egg and then dredge in breadcrumbs. Set aside.
3 Prepare pan and oil for frying. Make sure that the oil is hot enough before frying anything. Fry fish until golden brown and cooked through. Place in paper towels. Heat tortilla wraps in unoiled, clean pan.
4 Make the tartar sauce: Mix together mayonnaise, tomato paste, calamansi juice, mustard, and sugar.
5 Assemble like a taco: spread tartar sauce on tortilla wrap, fold in half, put the lettuce, fish fillets and tomato in a nice layer.
