Rubik’s Cube Cake

Everyone has seen or experienced playing the Rubik’s cube.  Do you know who’s the great mind behind this popular mind boggling game that has been popular for ages now?  It’s the Hungarian Ernő Rubik.

In honor of his birthday, the author of Stasty baked him the Battenberg cake which is constructed using alternatively coloured Victoria sponge cake rectangular pieces sandwiched together by jam and held together with walls of marzipan.

Very brilliant themed cake idea, indeed!  Perhaps, in the near future, a cake idea featuring the more mundane things like a larimar ring will surface.

Candylicious

Before entering Universal Studios Singapore in Resorts World during our SG trip last month, we checked out what this Candylicious Store is all about.imageStepping inside the store is like exploring a chocolate and candy factory because of the tons of M&Ms, Hershey’s, Reese’s, and all other top brands of chocolates and candies sprawled on the display racks. It was really heaven for those who have a sweet tooth and sweets are their life.  My son surely got delighted and confused which to buy so to prevent the store’s cordless barcode scanner from breaking down with the items that my son would stuff our cart with should we allowed him to take everything he could, we just lured him to buy a M&M chocolate dispenser fan.  It has a double purpose, a fan to keep him cool while we tour Universal Studios and a chocolate dispenser of his favorite M&Ms.

By the way, those lollipops up there are just ceiling decors.  They aren’t real edible candies. :)

Bento Snack Box

Now that my son’s a preschooler, my morning routine includes the preparation of his lunch box.  Coming up with a nutritious and an enticing snack is a great challenge for me.  There are times when the little one doesn’t fully consume the food I prepared so I’m researching for ways to come up with one that could lure him to eat everything up.

One brilliant idea I got from the web is to prepare a bento snack box.  For example, instead of just stuffing his packed biscuits or cookies inside the lunch box which seemingly appear like plain looking and empty steel garages, I can come up with these cool looking and enticing bento lunch boxes:

I think there’s a wide variety of molds and patterns in the supermarket.  These molds can form cookies, sandwiches, biscuits, fruits into unique and attractive figures that will surely catch a kid’s attention.

Edible Graduation Gift Ideas

Here in the Philippines, a regular school year for most schools ends every March.  This is also the graduation month for majority of preschools, grade schools, high schools and universities  There are some colleges though that have trimester curriculum so their school year runs quiet differently, too.  In the US, the schooling calendar system is also different and the graduation month is normally the first week of June or for some, in the last two weeks of May.  This is the period when edible graduations gift ideas are greatly in demand.  Here are some of the top favorites:

50% Off Claw Daddy Deal on Cashcashpinoy

The gastronomic in us will soon strike again.  I just purchased today’s Cashcashpinoy’s offering a Claw Daddy 50% off deal where a voucher valued at Php 700 can be bought for just Php 350.  The deal is just offered at Claw Daddy Centris and since this branch is just a stone’s throw away from us, without second thoughts, I bought the deal.

Centris Walk is still being developed and the last time we visited, several stores and restaurants are still being constructed.  I heard it’s going to be a hit among QC nearby residents who love to dine, stroll and shop.  I think it also has a high rise building offering residential (condo) and commercial spaces for lease.  Some spaces on the ground floor have been occupied already as I saw a few establishments including an office that has a big signage offering roadside assistance and other services for motorists.  Looks like it’ll be a promising mini-commercial center, huh?

I’ve already told the husband about the deal I bought and we’re both excited to devour Claw Daddy’s seafoods and steaks!
