How About a Health Blog

Work has been scarce these past few weeks so I decided to set up another web blog to add to my network.  I initially plan to put up a health blog this time but I don’t feel comfortable blabbing about health related topics or it’s something that I can’t relate to because I admittedly am not practicing a healthy lifestyle myself.  I don’t smoke.  I don’t drink neither.  But I’m poor in striving to eat healthy.  I consume more meat than veggies and fruits.  I love eating sweets and drinking cola.  I don’t have an exercise regimen and I just laze around in front of my laptop all day long.  I also tend to sleep late at night.  The good thing about this is that I’m not fat and I don’t need the best fat burning supplement.  But having an ectomorphic body doesn’t necessarily spell good health neither.  On another thought, setting up a health blog might be the key and who knows this might be the much needed inspiration or prodding that I need for me to live a healthier lifestyle as I research about health and staying fit related topics.

Too Much Calories

We often hear “That’s loaded with calories!” or “Watch out..that’s too much calories!” and they sounded like they’re all bad for our health.  Calories aren’t really bad for us.  In fact, our bodies need enough amount calories for energy and to get going on our daily activities.  What’s not okay is consuming too much calories and not burning enough of them through an activity.  This is the exact scenario why we gain weight or in simpler terms, why people get fat.  So before resorting to dieting pills to get rid of the unwanted fats, think again.  Getting fat can be avoided in the first place by being conscious on what we eat or by making sure that we burn enough calories that we ingest.

Thomas and Friends Birthday Cake

Since I’m in a party planning mode, I am blogging about my quest for the Thomas and Friends themed cake.  That’s the special request of the little one on which I have no choice but to oblige.  Otherwise, we might spend the whole afternoon trying to hush a defiant, cranky little birthday boy.  No amount of money in us coins or bills nor huge gifts could lure him to stop not unless it’s another Thomas and Friends toy or that sort of distraction.  Anyway, these are some of the Thomas and Friends cake pictures that we could draw inspiration from:

Birthday Plans

I really find it advantageous that my son and I share the same birthday months.  Our birthdays are just 10 days apart so aside from the fact that I can relate to his personality since we have the same signs (zodiac), a single party or celebration can be held for the two of us!  Since the husband has planned before hand that we’ll be going to Boracay as his gift to us, we’ll invite our families and very close friends (including two of my special college friends who have teaching degrees) over a special dinner for a simple get together and feasting when we get back.   The little one will have the opportunity to blow his birthday cake which according to him would have to be Thomas and Friends themed.  Not Barney, Spongebob nor a career themed one like those who hold teaching degrees.   No grand and lavish birthday parties. This reminds me that with just three weeks left, I have to finalize party food we’ll serve.  Good thing there’s Amber’s, so a simple phone call will do for delivery.

Menu Planning

I love weekends because it means quality bonding time with the family.  It’s the time that we can just plain laze and bum around at home or go somewhere else, dine, go malling or visit loved ones.  But one thing I dread about Sundays is the task of menu planning for the week and listing down grocery supplies.  It’s a lot more difficult actually than deciphering what baby gift to a friend’s child.  I’m really having a hard time thinking what to feed my family perhaps because my cooking skills and knowledge are limited.  It’s a blessing that Yayie’s with us and cooks for us once in a while especially if I crave for native veggie dishes.  On a brighter note, the husband’s try to make it easier for me too by giving out suggestions or what his taste buds crave to eat.
